When I was on this spiral, my greatest fear was that I had falsely convinced myself that I had ever belonged to Christ. Surely I couldn’t be a child of God when sin has such a hold on me. The parable of the prodigal son has become such an encouragement to me because it’s a story of a sinner who left their good and loving Father to see what the world had to offer and found that it was not as satisfying as he had hoped it would be so he returned to his Father, and when he did he was welcomed with open arms and a grand celebration
